Organization for Strategic Health Interventions (OSHI) is local NGO established under nongovernmental organization act No 24 of 2002 with registration no ooNGO/R/1179. OSHI works in partnership with the Ministry of Health, President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Ministry of Water, Ministry of Education Science and Technology( MoEST) and private sector, with the objective of facilitating the provision of high-quality health services at the community level, supporting community initiatives in provision of social services i.e. health education, health, Water Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), promoting awareness, access, acceptance, and uptake of health services, strengthening health care systems and institutions at various levels as well as promoting environmental conservation and protection.

Laurent Mwashiuya was three years old when he was found to have a congenital cataract in his right eye. Through OSHI's eye-health screening and referral work with partner hospitals, Laurent received surgery and is now recovering well.
A congenital cataract in Laurent's right eye was affecting his sight from early childhood.
OSHI's community screening identified the case and supported referral for surgical treatment.
Laurent underwent successful surgery and was reported happy and recovering afterward.
